Moving to Florida has been such a scary, wonderful, emotion-packed life event! The weather is hot, the bugs eat me, but I have a tan! :D No more California granola girl here! There's so much that's happened, I think I'll do a recap in photos & vid.

137th Kentucky Derby photo heavy

**----THE 1ST ANNUAL MARKFORD DERBY PARTY----**

supplies: all paper is Bazzill, banner is copy paper & pin is by Maya Road, black ink by Inkadinkado.

these will now become a tradition!! they were so moist, yummy, and sweet :D

I poured the mix into foil liners, as to resemble the julep cup.

.ingredients.

My adaptations: I used Vanilla Cake Mix as a base instead of making it from scratch. Also, no bourbon in the cupcake. I did put about 2 tablespoons of bourbon in store bought Vanilla Icing & let it set overnight before I decorated them.

.I would definitely make these again - but they were more fudge-y than brownie.

My adaptations: I did not use an egg substitute - I used real egg. Chris rolled a 1/3 with powdered sugar, no almonds. A 1/3 with almonds, no powdered sugar. A 1/3 with both. I recommend using nuts - it does balance out the richness of the bite size ball.

lemon jello cake, pasta salad, rolls, chocolate covered strawberries, julep cupcakes, bourbon balls. (lunch meat not out yet - the doggies would have gotten too excited, hehehe)

Yesterday I turned 26. It was my first birthday away from home (3000 miles away - but we Skyped!!) but it was still a wonderfully celebrated day.

Ink: Inkadinkado Dye Ink - Black, Yellow marker (a child's marker)

Alpha: Rubber Stamp: Studio G Uppercase Typeset

I am still out of my art studio from my move to FL, so since I did not have glue or sealer, I used the cream Acrylic paint as an adhesive. I mixed the paint with a little water and dipped strips of the news article in the solution. Think paper mache`.
After all the layering was finished, I smeared more cream paint (paint alone, no water) over on the right side & laid Mary on top. I used my fingers (again, no art studio = no brayer) to smoosh Her down.
I added dots of pink paint on opposite corners then swiped up and down with my fingers to create stripes.
I added a splash of yellow paint on the right side & wiped it up & down also - but using a paper towel.
I wanted to add orange, so I dipped my thumb in the paint & added my print to the right side on the bottom. The motive behind this was to symbolize that God, my Creator, has His fingerprints all over me - I am His.
Once the paint dried, I hand wrote the verse with pen, stamped the verse reference, and added a halo to Mary, Jesus the Child, and Jesus the Lamb.
I also outlined any of the religious words from the news article (I found one on the Passion from this weekend's Easter edition).

I wanted to share a card with you that I made for my dear friend Paula. She thought of me before she had a community sale a couple of weekends ago & saved for me a couple of home decor items. She was so sweet to think of me - so I wanted to make this thank you card for her! She is in love with Paris.

a little DIY side note: the base printed paper of the card (stripe & grey floral) are actually cut from the cosmo cricket paper pack's display card - you know, the sheet of paper that shows mini displays of what comes in the kit?! the paper "samples" from the sheet were the perfect size for this card! the lace covers the merging of the print seams and the black ink makes it look seamless :)

While Lectio Divina is a method of praying with scripture, Visio Divina (Latin for "divine seeing") is a method for praying with images or other media.

Visio Divina..... I'm so excited right now that I have nothing to share but my sheer joy for learning the formal name of my prayer style. I've always been a "doodler" in my prayer journals, and as of recent, I have begun art only journaling. (Currently, I am studying "The Interior Castle" of St. Teresa of Avila. As I meditate on the book, I journal out my thoughts, feelings, and discoveries on mixed media paper. - Photos up soon)

{Un}Birthday ATCs

Hi Loves,

This month's theme for ATCs was birthday.

"...ok I want to do this, but I don't want the traditional cake or candles, yadda yadda", says my head.

That's it - I'll do an UN-birthday theme! Eureka!

I glittered the steam of the tea with Martha Stewart glitters & inked the edges purple.

When gluing down the image (that I printed off line - don't you love it?! I love Mary Blair's artwork!!),

I glued three of the sides so that I could make a pocket for my little tea bag. I used what I had in the pantry, unwrapped it, and glued my subtitle to it. I crossed out the "UN" so that it would be Birthday themed! :)

Then I pulled off the original bag tab label and glue-dotted "Pull Me". The Pull Me tab is a ticket punch folded in half.

Girl Themed - Happy Easter Paint Can

Hi Loves,

Easter is just 1 1/2 quick weeks away....! Yikes! I've been uploading and editing photos like a mad women, prepping for our move to Florida. I wanted to have some projects ready ahead of time so that the blog hopefully will stay consistent over the next month. Look for fun projects for the season, new changes, and videos from the road :)

Whew, my body is tired. Chris & I have had 4 hard working days - but the house & garage are done!! We are done packing & I am so grateful to be able to enjoy the last few days we have in California. Tonight, we get to eat dinner at our dear friend's house & on Sunday (Palm Sunday) we're hosting a going-away pot luck hoopla.

Anyways, back to photos, I found pictures of this adorable altered paint can I had made for last year. I've used these easter themed cans for children's baskets for the big hunt! :)

Ultimate Brag Book:: On The Road

Hi Loves!!

Chris left today with his friend Jorge to set out for Florida, by way of Colorado, Kansas, & Kentucky (the Bourbon Trail was a must see for them!). In two weeks, after they fly home (they are leaving his car at our new home), Chris & I will be making the journey ourselves. Chris, Charlie (our furry-baby = golden retriever) & I will be driving the southern route.

I recently watched a pre-recorded class put out by Kathy at Paper Phenomenon that made the Ultimate Brag Book. Wowza!! It's such a great mini!! It's 5x7 in size, but fits up to 48 full 4x6 photos AND still room for journaling, embellishments, and anything else you could stuff in there.

I pulled out all the 4 sided photo mattings, tags, journaling spots, tabbed photo tags & distressed diecuts. All this fits into that little 5x7 album. Just need to add photos!!

Paper Crafted Easter Tree & Video How-To

St. Patrick's Day Projects: Photo Dump

Hi Loves!

Well, as you can see I haven't posted anything since the beginning of the month! Why...? I had left my camera cord in Florida! It just arrived a couple of days ago (thanks Mom!) and I am so excited to share with you the fun projects I had made PRIOR to St. Patty's day. Enjoy!

::"Lucky" a Mini Mini book::

This book was made for a dear friend of mine - Paula. (You can see a link to her blog on the left). She & I trade projects every now and then. This is what I made her for March!

I made this book using a lunch paper bag. I painted it green on both sides & folded in half.

After the paint dried (and the gold Glimmer Mist), I layered brown glitter paper & a holiday print. Next I added a journal spot with the "lucky me" stamp - glittering the word ME. I embellished with embossed shamrocks from a Quickutz die and inked those up too. Then I bling-ed it out!

.inside pockets.

I matted the inside covers with the same print as the front cover, inking the edges. Next, I cut a 6" scalloped circle (I bought it this way) in half and glued the bottom edge & about an inch on each side to create a pocket. I used a felt shamrock I had as a template to outline the designs on each pocket & then glittered them up with a glue pen & emerald green glitter.

I made four tags - each with different types of green ribbon: sheer, gold piping, striped, & flocked. I inked the edges of each green & stamped them with a mini shamrock.

Here you can see my lovely paint job! And as always, my stamp of originality. :D

::Earthy Shamrock Tags::

I made these tags for all the girls at work. I full set of 9 were created.

I used a basic manilia tag & covered it with (discontinued) Rusty Pickle paper. - It was very difficult to cut it up, but they are worth it :D

I inked the edges in brown. Next I cut out the scallop circle out of green bazzill using a Spellbinders die (the Fleur De Lis pack I think). Trimming it in half I placed each side above & below the burlap ribbon.

The burlap ribbon was rigid enough that it remained creased when folded. I trimmed up the tails to give it a "banner" feel. The shamrock gem in the middle is by Darice. I coated it with Pirate's Gold embossing powder (a dull, dark gold) and heat set it. I was really happy to find out that my little experiment of embossing on plastic didn't scratch off when it cooled down. Yippie!

This little ATC was made by my husband. He came into my studio one morning while I was making all the ATCs above. As we were talking he discovered my corner rounder. After playing with it (as all men play with toys & gadgets) he made me this ATC card. I think it's the best one I've ever received!!

Chris drew me (on left with three hearts above my head) and Charlie our dog - who apparently says "woof" :D

As I sit here in the Houston airport (in route to Tampa for my sister's wedding), I was blog stalking my drastically long list of favs. Here's one that I want to repost from Homegrown Hospitality. I loved her message & words soo much!

Sacred Heart ATCs

This past weekend I went on a retreat & the theme was "For Greater Things You Were Born". I decided to make everyone ATC/Prayer cards, each with their names. Here are a couple of photos of them. :D

The beauty of silence...

This past weekend I went to a Carmelite Retreat. The weekend was spent in silence - the idea being that if we can escape from the world, that we are able to hear the voice of the Lord more loudly.

Hi Everyone!! Here's a banner I made for a friend of mine. She loves all things vintage - a new trend that I'm quickly beginning to love myself.

The circles are 6" cut in half. They are decorated with Basic Grey (background), My Mind's Eye (scalloped circles), TJ Designs Vintage Valentine's Collage images, Prima Flowers, ribbon & gems!! The letters are Tim Holtz grunge board alpha - painted whited, then Glimmer Misted in Antique Bronze.

Hello all!

I wanted to sing of the beautiful crafty work my dear friend Amanda S. made for your friend's wedding rehearsal. They are GORGEOUS!!!! Here's a little background from the email she sent me:

Hi, Kristina!

This is a brief story on these flowers (even though you know some of it already).

I wanted to make a small bouquet for a friend's wedding rehearsal, but did not want to make the typical ribbon-through-plate bouquet. That is when I requested your help and suggestions. After searching for these flowers online, I found the site and directions on Martha Stewart's website. They looked amazing and I was a bit intimidated, but decided to give it a shot.

It took a while to get the hang of what I was doing. After a couple of funky looking roses and some trial and error, I got them looking pretty decent. I used water colors to paint them with and I got help with the ribbons from Von's Floral Department.

I think they turned out well! There were a few things I would look out for next time I do them, but overall, it was a fun experience. I was super happy that my friend liked them. That, of course, was most important to me.

I recently found a book entitled: A course in Weight Loss" It is about looking at the psychological & spiritual side of weight loss. It's composed of 21 lessons. I have been reading and doing them - and as of today I was on lesson 3. Lesson 3 consists of building an alter - a place where you place all your prayers & concerns to the Lord. A place where "if you bow down to God first, then it will become more difficult for you to bow down to evil" Seems good right? I loved that it was Christian inspired & quoted scripture though it was self-proclaimed as spiritual and not Christian.

The book mentions several times over that it is based from "A Course In Miracles". I bought that book when I was at Barnes & Noble. I wasn't even looking for it - it was actually there right in front. I thought it was serendipity. And you know how much I love serendipity.

I began to read like a maniac and as I continued.... it became, well, a little off. The writing perspective sounded like it was Jesus speaking "no one can come to the Father except through me"... "I have brought the Atonement for humanity".... ..

But then it will continue to say that like "I am the Son of God, you too are the Sons of God" ... "you need to find your Internal Being that is in all of you and follow it."

Ok, I am not God. I do not want to be my own idol. What the heck...

So I thought, hmm, maybe I'm reading into it to much. It's been awhile since I was in college - maybe it's a little advanced for me & I'm over-analytical. I continued. And it just got weirder.

I prayed about it. Is this for real? This does not seem correct. Something inside of me was telling me this wasn't good for me. Like it was leading me astray. But I wanted to keep reading because it did make valid and very good points. And then a thought hit me at work today. The devil knows scripture too. He quoted it back to Christ as a means of temptation.

So, I came home to google it. I know, you can't trust everything that's on the internet.

BUT - come to find, the writer of the book, who calls herself the Master Teacher (say what??) composed this book by writing down her "symbolic dreams" and the dictating voice she kept hearing.

Ok, I understand that on all levels of debate - one can argue the point that the gospel writers did the same thing. Yes, they did. But what they wrote did not lead others down a path of self endangerment. You can either take or leave what they say. They composed a biography of Christ's life and wrote philosophical statements that you could easily put into a "christian" fortune cookie. If you replace "Christ says" with "Confucius says", modern culture would follow it in a heartbeat & immediately place that little piece of paper in their wallet to continue to meditate on & hope for.

One thing that the author of this book says from her inner voice is that "sin does not exist. It is an illusion. There is no need to feel guilt because there is no sin. Sin does not exist. The problems that man faces are a result of separation from God. This separation is only illusion because it likewise does not exist. It is only a reality for those who believe they are not part of the divine."

So, I think the whole point of this note is of thanksgiving. I am thankful for the Lord, and my inner voice I call the Holy Spirit. I am thankful that little red flags went up in the soul & I was safe-guarded from a obscured truth.

I am thankful for the "little red flags". Really, the last couple of weeks have been like I was sucked into this trance that I could not stop dwelling on. I was living on what these books had to say. It was all I could think about. How scary.....

Please thank the Lord for my red flags & pray for all those who are swept into half & false truths by people & spirits who cherry-pick the gospel for their own promotion of thought &/or purposes of leading others astray and use it so convincingly!!

Thoughts on the T!m Holtz Frenzy

So... how many of you are joining in on the 12 TAGS OF CHRISTMAS by Tim Holtz??

He's been the new scrapbook star of recent years - the new guy on the block everyone wants to know & be around. And though I've never met him, what people have been saying has been very nice & honorable. And up until yesterday I still thought "He's a designer with great ideas but not the end of the world! Geesh!"

I work at a local So. Cal store and decided that we'd put up pictures of the days' project and the supply list. Wow, the supply list.....!! I wrote out all of the things needed for day one & in size 12 font, it took up the WHOLE page! Now, I should say that I didnt read the prior day's post because then I wouldn't have been so quick to judge that list!

"well here i sit trying to type out a supply list for the 12 tags and you know what? i can't...

here's the deal - i use so many different products on the tags, that it's hard to suggest a specific product or color. for example, if i said i was using crackle paint, then the questions would be what colors, how many tags will it be used on, etc? if the stores order up on crackle and i only end up using a bit of it on a grungeboard snowflake - then what? stores will be overstocked on products and i don't think anyone wants that. i also don't want anyone to feel that the 12 tags are marketing motivated because they've never been. the 12 tags started out as a way to give back to the people who have supported me all year and more importantly, a way for me to share my love for the holidays. i know this has turned into a frenzy all it's own and i'm blessed for that - we all are, but it's still important that i don't lose sight of why i'm doing them in the first place. i enjoy challenging myself creatively by doing the tags each night before i post them (which i've done the past 3 years since they started). i love the excitement i feel when i have to finish each tag by midnight as eager people from all over the world wait to see it the moment it goes live. half of the fun is getting people inspired and challenge themselves to use what supplies they have. it's also wonderful that stores are just as excited each day trying to gather up products in their stores and plan workshops and make & takes to share with their customers. i understand that every once in a while there is that odd product that nobody expects me to use - even me, but it is what it is. i feel that by committing to products now, i'm not only limiting myself creatively on what i would actually want to use and design, but it takes the magic out of this and i don't want to give that magic up. honestly, i have no idea what i'm going to create this year, and i don't know exactly what products i'll be using, but i do know this - that in the end everyone will have enjoyed the 12 tags of christmas again - including me...

Well my friends, I feel that again, though I've never met him - I felt he was writing this letter to me (a shop girl who works to accommodate all those buyers who say "I NEED "Stormy Skies" TODAY because he's doing it on his blog!!!!!! Why are you OUT?") They come in with their lists -as long as my typed one from yesterday - and want EVERYTHING on it and wonder why we may be out of a couple of things. I am very happy to know that T!M appreciates the stores that carry his line & more importantly that he does not let product impede on his creativity. If it flows, it flows. A true artist. Now I can say that I'm on the boat! :)

So, then. I apologize to any T.H. fans, and of course the man himself, for my callousness & assumptions. It's really good to see an artist who refuses to sell out.

Surviving my 1st hike!

Ok. If you know me personally - you probably wouldn't label me the "outdoorsy girl". I'm not big on farms, petting zoos, nature trails, camping, fishing, or hiking. I'm more of the "read a book on a beach somewhere" girl. Now - this is not to say that I do not like to exert myself. I enjoy water sports and a good gym class now and then.

This past weekend a group of us went on a hike. Yep. Me on a nature trail. A 4 mile hike with inclines and waterfalls. It was beautiful!! Though I do not think I'll be hiking again any time soon - the photos of the trail are beautiful (because the scenery was beautiful).

Here's the last installment of the Halloween projects for the week. I have here a layout that I made a couple of years ago!! :D Enjoy!

zoom on triple matting (green Bazzill, black Bazzill, print - all inked on the edge) & three coordinating ribbons!

here, I cut a 4"x12" border from the striped paper and stamped the edge with a "stitch" type border. then I layered the 3D tombstones & trees to make a cemetery scape.

zoom on title. I stamped the title on orange Bazzill with acrylic stamp alpha set. Then used an exact-o knife to cut them out.

zoom on 3D cardstock stickers.

***HOW TO MAKE STICKERS 3D****

1. Put stickers on scrap white smooth cardstock.

2. Cut them out. (This takes away their "stickiness")

3. Put 3D double-sided foam adhesive on the back then glue in place. (My favorite are Pop-Dots from EK Success)

these skeletons were what sold me on the collection! Aren't they great? I placed them on white cardstock, cut them out, then popped them up with 3D foam squares.

two make the paper ruffle: cut (2) pieces of 2" x12" strips of patterned paper. glue the two ends together and fold the accordion. adhere to page (you'll have a little bit left over - just trim that off).

The 'new' vintage craze has hit the stores the past year or so. Tim Holtz, Graphic 45, Websters Pages. All of them are the big players. I'm working on a project and haven't really done vintage before. I feel I can do many themes, but I need something that screams vintage.

A Beautiful Fall Day at Riley's Farm

Today, my husband and I had the day off from work - so we decided to head up to Oak Glen and visit Riley's Farm. There's a LOT of photos - but I was having way too much fun learning the controls on my DSLR. Enjoy :D

At Riley's Farm they have colonial themed stores and decor. My hubby is a huge American history buff, so he really enjoyed the ambiance.

On our way home, we stopped by the El Carmelo Retreat House. Within the chapel is this 3D statue of the Holy Family. And IT'S MADE OF PAPER!!!!!!! I was amazed!!

Today I'm taking it easy & just relaxing! I wanted to share one of the thank you cards I made for the Florida bridal shower we were given. It was a gold & damask 5x7 card. I was inspired by the house of the family throwing the party. Such a beautiful home. Creamy blues, golds, and whites filled their home. Between the damask flocked wall paper in the formal rooms and the flower arrangements everywhere - it was truly a beautiful location to have a bridal shower.

1. Tell us a little about yourself {non-business-ey}.

Hi! My name is Nicole, and I’m the designer behind Passion and Paisley. I’m also a college student and a bookkeeper. Although I enjoy my job as a bookkeeper, I’m pursuing a career in web design and marketing. I’m currently at a crossroads in my educational path and must decide between attending San Jose State or San Francisco State. Wherever I end up, I’m looking forward to new opportunities and experiences! I believe there is a delicate harmony between living things, which gives me great respect for nature. I love finding the beauty in ordinary things and I’m very intrigued by aesthetics. Naturally, I have always enjoyed the arts. I have a deep fondness for music of all types and some of my favorite musicians include Sade, The Grouch and Dixie Chicks. Like a typical girl, I’m emotional, I love spending money, and I’m a sucker for old-fashioned chivalry. Feel free to stop by my blog and submit a question into the “ask me anything” box!

2 . Tell us about your business & how long have you been doing this?

Passion and Paisley is a one-of-a-kind boutique full of lovely handmade items from accessories, to gifts, to home decor. Each item is unique and created with passion. The Passion and Paisley boutique was opened in October of 2009, when I read an article in Natural Health (one of my favorite magazines), featuring various shops on Etsy. Originally, Passion and Paisley was opened as a jewelry boutique, however quite recently I re-labeled the shop to be a “handmade boutique”. I’m always learning new crafts and wanted the boutique to include designs from some of my other favorites, such as sewing and altered art. Passion and Paisley’s journey has just begun.

3.Whatʼs your business name & how did you get your name?

People often ask me how I came up with the name Passion and Paisley. I wish there was some glamorous story behind the name, but I really just came up with two words that had a lot of meaning to me. I wanted to use the word passionbecause I'm a very passionate and determined individual. No matter what I do in life, I do it wholeheartedly. I also decided to incorporate one of my favorite pattern designs, paisley. The paisley pattern is an ancient Persian design thought to symbolize life and eternity. When I combined the two words, I loved the significance it had and they way it rolled off the tongue! As simply as that, the name Passion and Paisley was born.

4. Walk us through a normal work day. What is your favorite part of your creative process? What is your least favorite part of your creative process?

Because of my school schedule and my day job as a bookkeeper, I don’t often get a whole day to devote to creating things for the boutique. But when I do, I’m one happy girl! I don’t like to force myself to create, but rather, I like to make things as ideas pop into my head.
A typical day of designing for me includes a trip to the craft store, because you always think of something else you need; nutrition bars, because once I’m on a roll I can’t pry myself away from what I’m making, even for food; and a HUGE mess all over my tiny apartment, because creativity thrives in chaos.
In fact, I must say that my least favorite part of the creative process is trying to stay organized. Cleaning up is never easy and organizing hundreds of beads and other materials can be quite overwhelming!
On the other hand, my favorite part of the creative process is seeing the ideas in your head manifested in a finished product. It’s so fun to see your idea develop as you create something, and I just love looking at the final piece!

5. How do you promote your shop?

I began promoting my shop through Facebook. I created a page for Passion and Paisley, which I use to share pictures and links of new items in the boutique along with any giveaways or sales. I’ve begun using Twitter to promote the boutique as well, but I haven’t gotten as comfortable with it as with Facebook. (If you have any Twitter tips let me know!) A few weeks ago I also created a blog on Blogger, where I promote myself and other artists. I also use the blog to share my thoughts and information about the handmade world. I like to find little ways to promote my boutique, and my favorite shops, via Etsy treasuries and networking with other artists!

6. Do you have a selling secret youʼd like to share?

Since I’m fairly new as a handmade vendor, I don’t have any real “selling secrets” but I have made a crucial realization from a marketing class I’m taking this semester. It has become clear to me that the most successful products and brands make emotional connections with their customers. My item descriptions used to include a lot of detail about the materials and physical aspects of the item; however, lately I’ve been more descriptive with the inspiration behind the item and suggestions of how the customer could use the item in their own life. Another great tip for sellers is to get your shop on a social networking site, like the ones mentioned above. It’s an easy way to connect with your customers and keep them updated on your listings.

7. What is one craft or art style that you have yet to try, but are interested in?

I love learning new craft skills and exploring different areas of art. In fact, I’m currently in the process of learning to sew and crochet. If I could pick any new craft to learn it would be silversmithing. If I could learn to make beautiful bangle bracelets or rings out of metals, I would never leave the house again! (Except to go to the craft store of course.) I also have yet to dive into the art of scrapbooking, but would love to learn more. I have a passion for photography and think it would be great to be able to “dress up” my photos in an album. There probably isn’t any craft or art style I wouldn’t like to try!

9. What is a motto that you live by?

I live by the motto “mind over matter.” I believe you can do whatever you truly set your mind to, and I think that the mind is stronger than most of us can imagine. Life is what you make of it and positive thinking will breed positive results!

Sleep??? What's that?

So, I've hit my "one week" anniversary! :D teehee

I really do think that a lack of sleep has now put my brain into a "functioning coma". We were married on Friday, the first. Since then - brunches, lunches, airport trips. Back to work at the store, dinners, funerals, and PMS. I think my heart, head, and body are all confused. Sorry if I'm writing in incomplete sentences...

Here's some photos I took from our trip to LA/Hollywood with the new in-laws this past Monday. I've been trying to learn my new Nikon D5000. It's been a lot of fun playing with the ISO.

If only this photo could explain itself. ...

Andrija Bloom, owner of Enchanted Portraiture was the photographer of my wedding. Her, and her SEVEN cronies :D

When we hired her, she said she would bring an assistant or two to help shoot photos of other things happening at the wedding while the main photographer (Andrija) would get the main shots. Maybe Andrija knows my love of photos all too well, or maybe I'm just lucky - but she arrived that day with six assistants!! Yippee!

Many of the photos of the wedding will be her shots. Her goal for the wedding = 10,000 frames. Yep, ten thousand. I didn't add an extra zero by mistake. I get the majority of the photos this week and can't wait to share some. Here's some in the mean time - some of you have been pleading (and it makes me feel loved!).

A Wedding Whirlwind!

BLOGLAND!! You must have thought I left you!

I came back to "work" (a.k.a. making projects for people & being paid to play with paint & paper) today & found that my website said "August 2010" and I haven't posted on here since July! ACK!

Well, I have a good excuse - I promise! On October 1st, 2010 I married my best friend.

Chris & I were married at St. Peter & St. Paul Church in Southern California. It was beautiful! The day went by slowly (as I hoped it would) and friends & family were there to help us celebrate.

So, there are a few things I've learned about getting married:

1. Bride Brain. There is such a thing. You're head becomes so full of information and important facts that it forgets all that information and important facts.

2. Spiritual Warfare. If you're drawing closer to the Lord - there's a whole group of cronies just pulling you down & distracting you.

3. Take a week vacation before hand and a week vacation after. I was running around in circles the week before and now, 5 days after my wedding day - I still haven't slept much. Hosting family, living at the airport waiting for flights to come in, dinners, lunches, coffees, favors, table numbers, seating chart, seating chart, seating chart, seating chart.

4. Seating Chart. FYI: You'll be changing it again in the 11th hour.

5. Don't Eat Too Much. Everyone says "Make Sure You Eat". Well I did. And then when I got nervous, I wanted to hurl. It's all about balance. : /

I'm excited to share with you all the DIY projects that were made for the wedding. And special thanks to Mom (Mom-in-Law), Lindsey, & Valdes'. You all helped glue, assemble, and organize. Valdes' - thanks for letting me take over your dining room to do said glueing, assembling, and organizing.

A Crazy Little Thing.... called LIFE!

SooOOOooo, my life has been a bit chaotic, how's yours?

The wedding is fast approaching - 9.5 weeks!! GAH! In the midst of trimming, inking, and gluing, I had the opportunity to check out some new scrapbooking product from the CHA 2010 Summer Release!

I work at a local So. Cal Scrapbook store (it's my ME time, even though I get a paycheck - hehe). We had received samples of the new BoBunny lines & Reminisce lines. Woo hoo am I excited! The designs are great.

BoBunny: I just love Jan Lanoy's creations! I had the opportunity to meet her way back in 2004. She autographed my favorite paper of hers at the time - sweetest lady ever!!

Anywhoo: here they are :) ...

And the great designers at Reminisce! They never cease to amaze me - such simple designs, but ALWAYS the necessary basics! Here are just 4 of I think 12 new lines.....

Sooo cute! I can't wait to make some great projects with these!

Kristina-Nicole has great news! The owner & executive designer (me :D ) of Kristina-Nicole has been asked to be the Co-Chair of the Inland Empire, California chapter of AfWPI. Wow-wee!

AfWPI is an international networking group for wedding professionals and businesses. They offer monthly mixers, occasional workshops and conventions.

Happy Father's Day to all you fathers, dads, daddys, and priests!

Over in my end of the world, we celebrated the day with good food and a day by the pool.

Unfortunately, the chicken, salmon, and ribs were eaten way too fast to get any photos! But here are some of a couple of family friends hanging out with Charlie (my golden!).

And of course... I didn't even get a shot of my own dad (he hates taking photos)

Well, after a good day of pigging out and soaking up some sun... it's time to get down to some business.
